How it works

A walk through the borough

Every screenshot below is from one real playthrough: a new farmer who works at Salesforce, studies at UC Berkeley and is insured through Anthem. Click any picture to see it full size.

1 · Create your farmer

Tell Ruth who you are

Instead of picking a persona, you tell the game about your job, health plan, cards and school.

While you answer, Ruth (an alpaca in reading glasses and the town's AI reviewer) reads your employer's, insurer's and school's published benefit pages. Every fact she brings back links to its source and quote, and you untick anything that isn't true for you.

2 · Your farm

Every benefit grows as a crop

Planting takes a few seconds. Each crop is a real benefit with a dollar value and a deadline, and it wilts as the deadline gets closer.

Press L for the list of every claim, sorted by what's due soonest or worth the most.

3 · Ruth fills the claim

She does the paperwork. You decide.

  1. Ruth reviews every claim against written rules: no new care, no "spend it just to use it", tax moves shown as options.
  2. She fills the form from your profile and documents, attaches receipts, and flags only the fields you have to fill.
  3. You press Submit and the claim goes to the real place it's filed. Money counts as rescued only when it arrives.
4 · The Benefit Bazaar

Agents shop your perks

Name something you need and pick an unspent benefit. Three shopkeeper agents search live listings from many stores, Ruth checks each offer for coverage, fit and quality, and the shopkeeper phones you when the results are ready.

She ranks offers by quality for the money, so a pricier item has to be clearly better to win.

5 · A town worth coming back to

Cozy by design

The serious part comes wrapped in something people want to come back to: a hand-drawn town with hills and a two-tier waterfall, day and night, and friends farming next door in real time.

6 · Minigames

Daily ways to earn acorns

Complete daily challenges to earn acorns you can turn into real cash, like:

  1. Fishing: cast from the dock, wait for the bobber and keep the fish in the green bar.
  2. Slingshot balloons: hold to pull back, lead the wind and pop gift balloons. Presents parachute down with acorns or a real benefit tip.
  3. Bug catching: tiptoe through the meadow with Shift and swing the net. Ten bugs to collect in your journal.
  4. Daily visits: come back each day to grow your streak and earn more.
  5. Weekly quests: harvest two crops, do your check-in, visit three shops and chat with a villager.
